Ambalavattam Temple is in Pilakool, Thalassery on the Kozhikode–Kannur Highway (NH 66). It is a short distance (290 m) from Saidar Mosque and opposite the Post Office. The nearest railway station is Thalassery (3 km) for express trains and Jagannath Temple Station (1 km) for local trains. Calicut International Airport is at a distance of 95 km.
As the temple is on the busy national highway NH 66, visitors may park their vehicles inside the compound in front of the tharawad house.
